Anyone who has ever undergone radiation treatment for breast
cancer will know the source of the title. For the fortunately uninitiated, The Blue Tattoo Club refers to the tattoos inscribed
on women's chests that mark forever the area toward which the radiation beams were directed.
This book is a collection
of the real and relevant experiences of women who have encountered breast cancer in their lives. It is a book for all women:
whether theyre waiting for test results; have just been diagnosed; are in the midst of treatment; have completed their
own journey or care about another woman at any of those stages.
The twelve women who express themselves here recall
their own hopes and heartaches as they made their individual choices regarding treatment. At the time of diagnosis, their
ages ranged from 28 to 76 and they came from all walks of life.
I asked them to delve deeply and in so doing they
uncovered old wounds but also excavated the healing tools that molded them into the women they are today. Interspersed among
their spirited stories are essays with universal insights, light-hearted Notes to Self and guided journal questions for self-reflection.
Read it and reflect privately, gift it to another woman, or share it within a support group. My hope is that their courage
may bolster you, their fears may dispel your own, their laughter may lighten you. Let their words be inscribed on your heart
in indelible ink to illumine your own path.
Welcome to the sisterhood whose markings we will always carry on our
chestsThe Blue Tattoo Club.
